2025 was the first year the World Series of poker introduced the forced use of the
WSOP+ app in order to participate in any events. While it was somewhat annoying
having to download the app and go to the cage to verify your ID and take your picture.
Once signed up it did streamline a lot of processes and greatly improved upon the old
school days of waiting in long lines. However the app did bring along a slew of highly
annoying situations. One being the longest tournament hold up I have ever been
involved in with the floor. I played in a Milestone satellite to a bigger event. One of the
dealers or floors accidentally put in that a player had been knocked out who was still
in play. You would think okay no big deal lets press one or two buttons on the tablet
and undo this fat fingering. Not the case, what proceeded to take place was an over
half hour ordeal where the entire tournament needed to be stopped. While no one at
the cage or floor new what to do. After much back and forth over the walkie-talkie
from the cage to our floor they finally resolved the issue and we were able to resume
play. This is a situation where newer technology can create issues that never would
take place when using the old school method of running a tournament.
